It's true, December is here already! The days are shorter and the evenings colder and winter has made its grand entrance (grand as it gets here in Southern California), as we leap headfirst into the holiday season. It can seem as if we only celebrate certain holidays in this country. The stores, businesses and even our streets are decorated for Christmas Trees, reindeer and lights. Even radio stations play non-stop Christmas music...... and its all wonderful. However, many other religious and spiritual celebrations are taking place during this same season, such as Hanukah and Kwanza. This month we will explore that holidays are not universal, not everyone celebrates the same traditions or in the same way. We will look at these differences and similarities and the value of diversity and inclusion..... through stories, art and discussion.
Meet our Amazing Volunteers
Each month we will be featuring a volunteer and highlighting their special gifts. When you see them around church, please be sure to thank them for their service and dedication to the Youth Program.
Ian Overholt (volunteer) - Ian has been a volunteer for the Youth Program for many years. One of Ian's most valuable strengths is his ability to work with all age groups. He has led the kinder to third grade, as well as the teens with the same grace and love he brings to all situations. Ian is easy going and flexible which is welcomed and needed in a sometimes chaotic environment (chaos in a good way)! He has a deep knowledge and understanding of Science of Mind principals and we see that reflected in his positive and calm demeanor as well as his dedication to service and the children of our Youth Program. We love Ian very much and are grateful to have him!
WHEN: December 7th @ 6pm
What: We will be walking IN the parade as a church family. Please join us for a festive evening of Christmas Carols, Parade waving and lots more..... including a surprise for the kids.
