June has arrived bringing warm weather, graduations, Father's Day, National Pride Month and summer vacations. Youth church has a busy June planned, starting with a visit from Special Olympics on June 2. Several athletes will be here to demonstrate and teach Bocce ball to our Junior High and High school kids. We will honor our father figures on the 16th and we have our 5th Sunday Game and Party Day on June 30. Our theme this month is Science and Spirituality. We will explore the meaning through mindfulness, meditation and thoughtful discussion. It's going to be a great month!
Drew Buchanan graduates from Wilson High School this month and will be attending University of California at Santa Barbara in the fall.
Katie Postle graduated from California State University at Long Beach this past week. Katie will begin work on her Masters Degree in Speech-Language Pathology in the fall.
Judi Hileman has been volunteering in our Youth Program for nearly a decade. Her passion for the kids runs deep. They are a big part of her life and she cherishes them so completely. Judi has delighted our kids for many years with her enchanting and delicious Halloween punch, which she delivers in a Druid costume with spooky fog wafting through the air. She has also made countless sandwiches for past Mother's Day tea parties, as well as many other things. Even on days when Judi is not scheduled as a volunteer, she takes it upon herself to check in with our Youth Director every Sunday to see if her assistance is needed. Her kindness and dedication are appreciated. Thank you, Judi for your many years of service, and congratulations on your new role as practitioner. We Love you! (submitted by Wenda Arcala).
