Ah, what a summer we’ve all had! Just like the fields of fresh nutritious food which has been stretching and rising towards the sun all summer, we too have been growing and stretching individually and as a spiritual community. What is it about summer that pushes us towards new adventures? Towards new ways of being? I’ve been thinking a lot about this as I reacquaint myself with my surroundings. I recently returned from a family adventure in Costa Rica. Wow! Just Wow. It is a whole different world down there. From the Volcanos to the butterfly fields, to the rainforest, my eyes rested upon images I had only ever imagined.
My intent for this trip was to create an adventure for my family which would push each of us just beyond the edge of our comfort zones and into the land of newness. For those of you who don’t know me very well, I am a total scary cat. I am hesitant and cautious and never want to put myself or my children in any situation which might cause any amount of harm. With that being said, about nine months ago I had a change of heart after a conversation with Spirit. Actually, the Divine loving intelligence within me started yelling at me. It said, “Nicole! There is so much of me that you are holding back from, so much joy, fun, good, which I, Divine intelligence, created for you to enjoy. It is time you set your fears aside and get to living.” Needless to say, I listened. I scheduled a zip lining tour, a hanging bridges tour, a whitewater rafting tour, and a horseback riding tour. And guess what… I survived! Not only did I survive, but Spirit-filled each one of us up with a courage and a joy I can’t even find words for.
They have a saying in Costa Rica which the locals say sums up their culture and philosophy, Pura Vida! Pura Vida means pure-life. The premise is to live a peaceful, simple, uncluttered life with a deep appreciation for nature, family, and friends. A real living that reflects happiness, well-being, and satisfaction. In many ways, this culture reminded me of our community and what we stand for. We really do have something very special here, don’t we?
As we move into the Fall, with our pledge campaign and our intention of Boldly Moving Forward Together, I want to invite each of us to listen to Spirits call within to boldly live our lives full out, to boldly embrace our spirituality unapologetically and to boldly rise together as we embark on our next adventure!
Love Always,
Nicole Von Atzingen
