September already?! It is indeed. The new school year has started for some and will soon start for others. We’re looking forward to Fall at the SBCSL youth church! Our theme this month is Living the Science of Mind. We are excited to explore different ways of putting our Spirituality into Action and are looking forward to sharing our experiences with each other and with the rest of the congregation.

Here are a couple of photos from our recent Parents’ Night Out. We opened up the sanctuary to our youth for a few hours on a Friday night and had a blast while the parents had an evening to themselves. The kids ate pizza, made art, played games, watched a movie, and enjoyed the time with each other.

Many thanks to Lisa and Wenda for keeping the younger participants entertained, and to Reverend Nicole for holding it down with the teens… What a wonderful community we are fostering with our youth!!

Sundays in the youth room often include a craft of some sort. We use art drawing, painting, and making collages (as pictured here), among others – to express and reinforce the spiritual topic we’re exploring. Come pay us a visit if you’d like to see some of the beautiful creations!

“There is More to Me than What You See”
A workshop on diversity
Facilitated by Reverend Nicole and Lisa Ortiz
Sunday, September 29th, 1:00 – 3:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary

We are “greening” the Youth Room!
We’ve taken August’s theme of Spiritual Ecology to heart and have decided to be better stewards of the Earth by moving away from
disposable plates, cups, cutlery, towels, napkins, etc. We are gladly accepting donations of real plates, cups, silverware, cloth
napkins, and dish towels to help with this effort. We don’t need matching sets or anything fancy – just sturdy stuff that we can wash and re-use!
